Elton Jantjies will start at flyhalf for the Lions against the Sharks at Kings Park on Saturday night.
Jantjies played for the Golden Lions in the Vodacom Cup last weekend after returning from a shoulder injury, and Lions coach Johan Ackermann believes he is ready for Super Rugby.
That sees Marnitz Boshoff, who has done so well at 10 over the past three weeks, shift to fullback, with Chrysander Botha on the left wing and Ruan Combrinck on the right. Deon van Rensburg will start at outside centre.
The only change to the pack sees hooker Willie Wepener come in for Robbie Coetzee, who moves to the bench.
