Eben Etzebeth is on the cover of the July issue (on sale 17 June) as the Springbok enforcer speaks to SA Rugby magazine about the prospect of becoming a Test centurion during the pending series against Wales.
“For me, it’s about playing 98 first, then 99. It is amazing just to be a part of everything. This will be something I never would have dreamt of,” the Bok enforcer said.
The issue also focuses on the careers and achievements of the six centurions that Etzebeth will be joining, with Mark Keohane hailing the impact of former Bok fullback Percy Montgomery on being the first man through the door.
Jesse Kriel’s role in the Bok backline is a talking point while there’s also a preview of South Africa’s three-Test series against Wales in Pretoria, Bloemfontein and Cape Town, as Wayne Pivac leads the Dragons against the world champions on the back of a disappointing Six Nations campaign.
The inclusion of the Cheetahs in the European Challenge Cup has also stoked debate on how much more could be done to expose the Free Staters to top-flight competition.
