There are two big Cape schools derbies taking place before Saturday’s Vodacom United Rugby Championship semi-final in Cape Town, including the Premier Interschools match between Bishops and Rondebosch.
One of South Africa’s oldest schools rivalries resumes when Bishops College and Rondebosch Boys’ High face each other for the 198th time.

The two schools were built a mere 400m apart, and while Rondebosch have won 77 times it is Bishops that dominate this derby since the first encounter in 1908. Bishops have won this derby 101 times, and there have been 19 draws.
That is not the only big schools derby in Cape Town – Wynberg host SACS.
In Riversdale, Oakdale will celebrate their Akkerfees by hosting Paarl Gimnasium, while Boland Landbou take on Paarl Boys High.
Other big games this weekend see Hilton face Kearsney and St John’s take on St Stithians.
