Duane Vermeulen is set for a possible rematch against his former team in Cape Town after Ulster booked a place in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship semi-finals.
The men from Belfast became the first side to clinch a spot in the final four of the URC by powering to victory over Munster at Kingspan Stadium on Friday night.
Ulster stormed into the next knockout round of the competition with a five-try victory over their Irish rivals, and now await the winners of the clash between the Stormers and Edinburgh at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
Victory for John Dobson’s men would secure them a home semi-final and former Stormers skipper Vermeulen would then return home to face the Capetonians, who secured a narrow 23-20 win over Ulster earlier in the tournament.

In Belfast on Friday night, two first-half tries from fullback Stewart Moore helped earn Ulster a 36-17 win as 100-cap John Cooney, Nick Timoney and James Hume also touched down in an interprovincial clash which the hosts led 19-7 at half time.
Cooney kicked three conversions and a penalty as the home side avenged losing to Munster at Kingspan Stadium during the regular season.
Man of the Match Hume had an outstanding game in terms of putting others into space. The centre created Cooney’s try and was involved in setting up both of Moore’s, and also provided an assist for Timoney before claiming his own touchdown.
Ulster’s second try was a stunning attack off a lineout take, with the home side giving width and pace to the ball. Robert Baloucoune entered the line on an angle as the extra man before Ethan McIlroy fixed the defence and offloaded inside to Moore, who took the ball at pace and surged over.
Munster’s season is now over after another quarter-final exit, with Bath-bound head coach Johann van Graan’s tenure, along with departing Springbok centre Damian de Allende, coming to a disappointing end.
