The Blitzboks recovered from a shock opening Pool D defeat at the Toulouse Sevens to record a convincing win against Spain on Friday.
Two first-half tries from Zain Davids, followed by touchdowns from skipper Siviwe Soyizwapi, Ronald Brown and debutant Dalvon Blood, set the South Africans on their way to a 27-7 win.
Neil Powell’s men suffered a first defeat to Ireland in their first match of the day at the Stade Ernest-Wallon.
The Blitzboks close their pool action against rivals Samoa on Saturday at 12:22pm.
