Having overtaken Bryan Habana in the race to decide the fastest Springbok over 50 metres, Tonderai Chavhanga now takes his mark against another SA ‘ace of pace’.
In a surprising upset after last week’s sprint, Chavhanga won 66% of the vote against decorated Bok hero Bryan Habana, who previously left Makazole Mapimpi in his dust.
Now, ‘The Flying Zimbabwean’ faces Cheslin Kolbe, the pocket rocket with a big heart and one of the Boks’ primary strike weapons.
Like Chavhanga, Kolbe was a popular player at Western Province and the Stormers, but his career really skyrocketed after he moved to France in 2017.
The former Blitzbok wrote his name into the history books with a spectacular try against England in the 2019 World Cup final.
His electrifying stepping bamboozles defenders, yet the Toulon flyer’s acceleration makes him as quick off the mark as his cousin, Olympic and world-record holder Wayde van Niekerk.
