Springbok Frans Steyn must decide if he wants to extend his contract at the Free State Cheetahs or accept a lucrative deal in Japan.
The two-time World Cup winner has reportedly received an offer to join the Mitsubishi Sagamihara DynaBoars club, while other Japanese clubs are also interested in his services. He previously played in Japan for the Toshiba Brave Lupus from 2014 to 2016.
According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, Steyn, who turned 35 on Saturday, will give the Cheetahs an answer on his future this week.

His contract with the Free Staters runs until the end of the season, with the contribution the Bloemfontein outfit receives from SA Rugby towards Steyn’s salary also set to conclude then.
It is believed the Cheetahs are keen to retain Steyn’s services, as he and fellow Bok veteran Ruan Pienaar have helped guide a youthful side to nine successive wins in the 2022 Currie Cup.
Steyn, who recently attended the second Bok alignment camp ahead of the July series against Wales, has also settled on the family farm near Bloemfontein since joining the Cheetahs in 2020 from Montpellier.
