Aphiwe Dyantyi could reportedly start training with the Sharks in the new year as links between the two continue to grow.
The 13-cap Springbok was suspended from all rugby in December 2019 after failing to prove that he had inadvertently ingested the performance-enhancing substances methanedienone, methyltestosterone and LGD-4033.

Having tested positive in July 2019, the former Lions wing will not be able to be considered for selection before 12 August 2023, but he can start training with a team six months before the end of his ban.
Several weeks ago, Sunday newspaper Rapport reported that Dyantyi had already moved to the South Coast where he is working and is doing specialised exercises to ensure his return after a four-year absence goes smoothly.
In a fresh update on the situation, Independent Online states that it looks ‘increasingly certain’ that the Sharks will extend a lifeline to Dyantyi, who could be training with the team in the new year.
On 7 February, the 27-year-old posted on social media an update on his situation, in which he vowed to make his way back on to the playing field.
This year marks three years out of the game,” Dyantyi wrote. “A very challenging three years coupled with tears, rebuilding, love and laughter.
“A trial and error period in my life, but two business projects down the line, I wouldn’t change anything about my life journey. The support has been both heartwarming and humbling (Thank You).
“I find myself in a privileged position of building beyond rugby and focusing on getting back on the field, and get back I will …
“I’m only getting started …”
NKOSI: Joining Jake a ‘big motivator’
The Sharks recently bid farewell to Springbok winger Sbu Nkosi, who has joined the Vodacom Bulls as he attempts a fresh start for his career.
Nkosi and Dyantyi made their Test debuts for the Springboks in the same starting lineup against England at Ellis Park in 2018.
