Springbok captain Siya Kolisi will have the main rugby field at his alma mater Grey High renamed after him.
The field will in future be known as The Kolisi Field in honour of the 2019 Rugby World Cup-winning captain. The ceremony is set to take place on Saturday, 14 May.
The 63-cap Kolisi, who matriculated from the Gqebera-based school in 2009, captained the school’s 1st XV in his final year of school. He was named Bok skipper on 28 May 2018, becoming the first black player to hold the position.
It is the second such recognition of a past pupil from an Eastern Cape school, who played for the Boks, after Queen’s College renamed its main grandstand in honour of Kaya Malotana.
