Gordon D’Arcy says Stormers No 8 Evan Roos came off “looking like a turkey” while “trying to be a hard man” against Leinster.
The former Ireland centre, who made 253 appearances for Leinster, lambasted Roos for rubbing Harry Byrne’s face into the ground – after his dump tackle on the flyhalf – during the Capetonians’ victory over the Irish on Saturday.
D’Arcy slammed Roos on Twitter, where he gained support from his countrymen, who said the 22-year-old’s actions were why he was omitted from the Springboks’ first alignment camp of 2022.
Evan Roos trying to be a hard man, without doing anything hard. Instead just ends up looking like a turkey ?

Some evidence today as to why @RassieRugby has chosen not to call up Evan Roos just yet. Great talent but questionable temperament. He’ll learn #STOvLEI

British & Irish Lions great Donal Lenihan, while commentating on the Vodacom United Rugby Championship match for RTE, suggested that Roos should’ve been sent off, but referee Craig Evans only penalised him.
“He could be in big trouble here,” said Lenihan. “You can’t do that. He’s looking at a yellow minimum. He drives his head into the ground with his hand.
“Harry Byrne does well to clear out but it’s afterward that there, having made the tackle … just petulant really.”
