The Lions have completed the signing of Sharks scrumhalf Sanele Nohamba on a three-year contract.
According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, Nohamba arrived in Johannesburg on Tuesday after an agreement was reached with the Sharks to release him from his contract with the Durban side.
Nohamba had signed a two-year extension with the Sharks in 2020 to keep him in Durban until the end of the 2022 season, but has left the team after falling down the pecking order.
Jaden Hendrikse, Grant Williams and Cameron Wright all overtook the 23-year-old scrumhalf despite a bright start to his Sharks career, when he was invited to the Springbok alignment camp in 2021.
However, Nohamba will have to work hard to earn a place in the Lions’ matchday 23 in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, with Morne van den Berg, Andre Warner and Nico Steyn all in Joburg.
