Faf de Klerk is reportedly linked with a big-money move to Japan, while Stormers-linked Lood de Jager may yet be swayed by the yen over the rand.
It was confirmed this week that the World Cup-winning Springboks will leave the Sale Sharks at the end of this season.
De Klerk was previously linked with a switch to the Hurricanes in Japan, but the 30-year-old scrumhalf now appears to be packing his bags for the Canon Eagles.

De Jager (29) is understood to be eager for a return to South Africa, with a possible deal at the Stormers being discussed. However, the towering lock had to chip in and buy his way out of the remainder of his Sale contract, so an offer from a Japanese club would be attractive.
Speaking to The Times, Sale boss Alex Sanderson said: “Faf hasn’t left yet but the reality is that he could get offered £1-million from Japan and that is the nature of the game.
“That challenge of fitting into the salary cap is quite exciting, but it is not numbers on a page – it is someone’s life and aspirations.
“Players have a finite time in their career and need to get paid market value, or somewhere near, and if we can’t deliver that then I cannot control it.”
