Only nine of the 46 players in the north-south derby at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday have been invited to the Springbok alignment camps.
According to Keo.co.za, the squad called up to attend the Bok workshops in Durban (10-12 April) and Cape Town (1-5 May) features seven Stormers and four Bulls players. The 11-man group includes the injured duo of Stormers lock Salmaan Moerat and Bulls flyhalf Johan Goosen.
List of Stormers, Bulls called up to Bok camp
The Stormers and Bulls are South Africa’s frontrunners in the inaugural Vodacom United Rugby Championship, both placed among the playoff contenders. They are set to battle on Saturday with the Cape side chasing the prospect of a bonus-point win that would catapult them into fourth place.
The profound recovery of both these teams was driven by a mix of veterans and young guns, including 30-Test Springbok Marcell Coetzee at the Bulls and the Stormers’ rampaging Evan Roos.
Yet the report confirms that these two standout players, along with the likes of Warrick Gelant and Kurt-Lee Arendse, have not been rewarded for their blazing form.
