The Stormers and Vodacom Bulls renew their old rivalry when the two sides lock horns in Cape Town on Saturday, with the winner one step closer to securing a coveted playoff spot in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship.
The South African teams bagged another full house of wins in the URC last weekend, earning 19 out of a possible 20 points in the round.
The Sharks outclassed the Dragons 51-3 in Durban on Friday, while the Bulls delivered a strong second-half performance against Ulster for a rewarding 34-16 victory in Pretoria and the Lions held out a determined Edinburgh outfit for a 15-9 win in Johannesburg. The Stormers completed the quartet of victories as they earned a 29-13 bonus-point victory over Ospreys in Cape Town.

These results had the Stormers holding on to sixth place on the log with 43 points following their eighth victory of the season, while the Bulls trail by a single point in seventh position, and next up for both sides is their tantalising north-south clash at Cape Town Stadium. The Bulls, though, struggled during the local derby phase of the URC – losing home and away to the Sharks and at home to the Stormers.
The Sharks, who are hot on the Stormers and Bulls’ heels with 41 points, will open the doors at Kings Park to the Lions, the Joburgers further down on the table in 12th with 30 points after winning their sixth match, with Saturday’s result marking their fourth win in a row after a disappointing start to the season.
