The Vodacom Bulls have slashed ticket prices to R25 for Saturday’s Vodacom United Rugby Championship match against Ulster, in the hope that fans will flock to Loftus Versfeld.
The bold call was made by Bulls director of rugby Jake White on Tuesday, with CEO Edgar Rathbone supporting White’s decision to offer supporters an opportunity to watch this weekend’s top-flight game.
“This is the least we can offer our supporters who have stood by us for a long time,” Rathbone said.

In line with new government lockdown regulations, the Bulls can host up to 25,000 spectators at Loftus. But with a noticeable poor crowd attendance across the country in the URC last weekend, will lowering ticket prices attract fans back to stadiums or have South Africans simply lost their appetite for attending live matches?

Getting 3000 people into a stadium at R200 per ticket makes R600,000. Having 25000 at R50 earns R1.25m. Surely rugby unions must EXPERIMENT with a low price and see if it improves the gate? I mean, what have they honestly got to lose? Cos they’re losing already. #URC #Rugby
