The latest edition of SA Rugby magazine hails the double potency of Du Preez twins Jean-Luc and Daniel, who have been a revelation in the English Premiership.
Having joined Sale Sharks on an initial loan deal that became permanent in 2018, the Du Preez twins have harnessed their raw talent and taken their games to the next level in Manchester.
The two brothers were both called up to the Springbok squad for the 2021 British & Irish Lions series, but neither got the opportunity to add to their tally of Test caps. They will be raring to go one step further in 2022, as the Boks look to finalise the preparation for the 2023 World Cup.
The latest issue also looks at two veterans who have returned from European quests – Lionel Mapoe and Deon Fourie – and are sharing their treasure chest of experience with the next generation of South African stars.
Among this next generation is Siya Masuku, one of the best performing local flyhalves who has torn up the Currie Cup for the Cheetahs.
A Bok veteran who has gone in the opposite direction, Duane Vermeulen, has signed for Irish Ulster and is looking to extend his Test career for as long as possible.
Finally, the imminent departure of long-standing Blitzbok head coach Neil Powell to the Sharks is unpacked by Sevens captain Siviwe Soyizwapi, who also explains how the team has bounced back from their Olympic Sevens disappointment last year.
