Sharks CEO Eduard Coetzee is desperate to know when more spectators will be allowed into local stadiums for sports matches.
Coetzee posed the question on Twitter just three days removed from the Sharks’ 37-20 victory over the Scarlets at Kings Park in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship, in what was one of four wins for South African sides at home in the competition this past weekend.
Under the current regulations, only 2,000 fans are allowed in stadiums, despite a marked decrease in Covid-19 infections across the country.
Just asking for a friend…does anyone out there have any idea when we can have fans back to our stadium’s! We are now on more than 700 days under serious restrictions, and allowing 2000 fans in a 54 000 seater stadium doesn’t make it better. #openstadiums @SharksRugby ????

Coetzee is not alone in voicing his frustrations with regard to the further opening up of sporting venues.
More important question is, do we have a minister of sports because if he/she had the best interest of making sure all sports have sustainable growth, they’d make sure to press the issue of opening up stadiums again. We’re being failed at all fronts https://t.co/I5I100XHNc
