Ireland scored two tries in the final 10 minutes to seal a bonus-point victory over England and keep alive their hopes of winning the Six Nations.

With the 32-15 result, Ireland close the gap on table-topping France to just two points with one final round of action to play. Ireland will next host Scotland in Dublin, while France and England will clash in Paris.

The final score definitely does not tell the whole story of the match as England deserve credit for fighting to bring themselves level in the second half despite playing 78 minutes a man down.

It looked as if Andy Farrell’s team would cruise to victory when England lost lock Charlie Ewels to a red card inside the first two minutes after he recklessly collided with opposite number James Ryan, forcing the Irishman off the field with a concussion.

Ireland were quick to take advantage, opening the scoring through wing James Lowe just a few minutes later. However, to their credit, England stuck in there and managed to make it to half time 15-9 down.

England’s pack, in particular, was surprisingly dominant, forcing Ireland to concede 13 penalties to the home side’s six. Eddie Jones’ team got a good level of joy from the scrums, specifically.

The tight nature of the match continued in the second half as Marcus Smith slotted a couple of penalties to draw England level.

Ireland edged themselves in front in the 65th minute when Johnny Sexton landed a penalty, before they laid a decisive blow when substitute loose forward Jack Conan scored a try in the 71st minute. Tighthead prop Finlay Bealham then scored to seal the all-important bonus point for Ireland.
