Having secured the signature of Eben Etzebeth for next season, the Sharks are reportedly working on a big transfer coup to lure another Springbok to Durban.
According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, the Sharks have their sights set on bringing Rohan Janse van Rensburg back to South Africa from England as part of a potential double signing.
Janse van Rensburg, who played his only Test for the Springboks in 2016, is currently contracted to the Sale Sharks in Manchester, where he has been based since making a permanent move from the Lions in 2018.
The 27-year-old is reportedly seen as a missing piece in the puzzle for the Sharks, especially as the Durban side is set to lose inside centre Marius Louw to the Lions.
At 1.83m and 109kg, Janse van Rensburg would offer the Sharks the kind of muscle in midfield they have been missing since Andre Esterhuizen left the team for England.
According to the report, the Sharks tried to keep hold of Louw by offering him a new four-year contract, but he is already looking for places to stay in Johannesburg.
The report also confirmed that Lions loose forward Vincent Tshituka has turned down offers from the English Premiership to join the Sharks in Durban.
