A flawless kicking display from Boeta Chamberlain against the Pumas in Nelspruit made it four wins on the trot for the Sharks in the Currie Cup.
Chamberlain slotted eight penalties to bag all the points for the visitors in a 24-10 victory at the Mbombela Stadium. His final three-pointer after the final hooter ensured the Durbanites returned home with their unbeaten streak intact and still top of the standings.
The Sharks held a slender 10-12 lead at the interval after the Pumas staged a late first-half fightback. Sharks No 12 Murray Koster saw yellow for a high tackle in the 34th minute, and the home side pounced on the visitors’ numerical disadvantage.
The Pumas ran the ball into space with supporting runners snapping up neat offloads, before a quality break ended with Anele Lungisa dotting down in the corner.
And although unable to break down the hosts’ solid defence on the night, the Sharks eased over the line with Chamberlain chipping away at the scoreboard.
