Tobias Botes is one of three new signings for the Kings ahead of their Currie Cup Premier Division campaign.
The 30-year-old was born in Worcester and played for Griquas between 2006 and 2008, before making his Super Rugby debut for the Cheetahs in 2008. He played three games for them before moving to Italy where he signed with Benetton Treviso. He has earned 22 Test caps for Italy, the last of which came against Scotland in this year's Six Nations.
Australian lock Steve Cummins has also arrived in PE. The 22-year-old represented Australia at the Junior World Championship in 2012 and spent two seasons at Montpellier.
Joining the Kings next week is tighthead prop Tom Botha, who played for Western Province's Vodacom Cup team last year and made one appearance off the bench in the Currie Cup.
The Kings will play a friendly against Wales next Tuesday night.
