SA Rugby has agreed to loan high performance manager Louis Koen to former Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer in Houston.
Former Springbok flyhalf Koen has been serving as SA Rugby’s high performance manager for the past five years.
According to Rapport, Koen has already left South Africa to link up with Major League Rugby club, the Houston SaberCats, where Meyer serves as director of rugby.
The 46-year-old will spend the next few months in the USA, after which he will return to South Africa to resume his duties with SA Rugby.
The loan deal will work out as a win-win for SA Rugby, as the USA is a major contender to host the Rugby World Cup in 2027.
