Selvyn Davids scored two second-half tries off the bench to help the Blitzboks claim a quarter-final victory over Scotland in the Sevilla Sevens on Saturday.

The Blitzboks, who are now 32 games unbeaten, will face Ireland, who claimed a 24-12 win over England, in the semi-finals.

The semi-final will take place on Sunday at 5pm.

It was a dream start for Scotland as Jamie Farndale stuck within the first minute of the match after a break down the left wing.

The Blitzboks hit straight back when Justin Geduld and Darren Adonis showed great hands to put Shaun Williams over for a try.

However, Scotland were undeterred as Reiss Cullen then stepped through Williams’ tackle to put his side ahead again.

Sako Makata ran from inside his own half to once again level the scores, with Du Preez’s conversion putting the Blitzboks ahead.

The South Africans extended their lead at the end of the first half when Scotland were reduced to six men after losing a player to the sin bin and Ryan Oosthuizen finished in the corner, making it 19-12 at the break.

Selvyn Davids came on to the field in the second half and made an immediate impact, bursting through a gap in Scotland’s defence to score.

Kaleem Barreto provided a nervous last couple of minutes as he broke from a scrum inside of Scotland’s 22 to score and made it a five-point game.

However, it was Davids who put the game beyond Scotland as he sliced through the defence to give the Blitzboks a 12-point lead with a minute to play.

Scotland had the final say as Jordan Edmunds scored a consolation try after the full-time hooter.
