Four Springboks have been included in the completely changed Vodacom Bulls Currie Cup team for Wednesday’s clash with Western Province in Cape Town.
With the Vodacom United Rugby Championship resuming this coming weekend, the Bulls have evidently withdrawn several of their key players from the Currie Cup group, thus selecting a completely new team for the fixture against WP tomorrow.
Flyhalf Morne Steyn, centre Lionel Mapoe, flank Marcell Coetzee and hooker Bismarck du Plessis have been named in the starting XV, with Coetzee taking over as captain from Cornal Hendricks, who is not in the match-day squad.
Additionally, the Bulls’ latest recruit, Cyle Brink, will make his debut for the side.
Other notable inclusions in the run-on XV are that of fullback James Verity-Am, centre Harold Vorster, scrumhalf Marco Jansen van Vuren, No 8 Muller Uys and locks Janko Swanepoel and Sintu Manjezi.
“We are up for a big challenge against a good Western Province side, who are always very dangerous when playing at home,” coach Gert Smal said.
“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to blend some valuable experience with some exciting youthful talent for this important fixture.
“We are looking forward to a tough physical battle and some entertaining rugby, which we have become accustomed to when these two sides face each other.”
