SA Rugby has confirmed the 2022 Currie Cup schedule, including five rounds of midweek matches, that culminates in the Premier Division semi-finals and final on the last two weekends of June.
The 2022 tournament kicks off at 7pm on Friday, 14 January when the Vodacom Bulls begin their title defence against the Pumas at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
The two other matches in the opening round are scheduled for Saturday – with the Cheetahs hosting Griquas in Bloemfontein at 2:30pm and Western Province welcoming the Lions to Cape Town Stadium at 5pm. The Sharks have a bye in round one.
Five of the 14 rounds of league action are scheduled to take place on a Wednesday, including round two which kicks off at Ellis Park on 19 January when the Lions host the Pumas (3:30pm) before Griquas take a dip at the Shark Tank (5:45pm) and then Western Province take on the Bulls under lights at Cape Town Stadium (8pm).
