Makazole Mapimpi’s speed wasn’t only showcased on the field this year as a clip featuring the rapid Springbok flyer sped past two entries from Rassie Erasmus in the Top 5 videos in 2021.
The reaction to Erasmus’ hour-long video highlighting a host of officiating discrepancies in the series-opener against the British & Irish Lions set the internet on fire, but no clip on SARugbymag.co.za got more clicks than the one explaining why Mapimpi’s try against Wales should not have been called back.
Not used to losing, Erasmus will take some consolation from having two other video posts among the most watched, while the alleged biting incident involving Scotland fullback Stuart Hogg and Bok counterpart Wille le Roux came in second and ‘Captain South Africa’ Siya Kolisi handing over his togs to a fan after an epic win over the All Blacks completed the shortlist.
