SA Rugby chief executive Jurie Roux is likely to have his future determined in January after he failed in his bid to overturn the guilty verdict in the case related to misappropriation of funds during his tenure at Stellenbosch University.
Roux has lost an appeal against his guilty verdict and been ordered to repay R37 million, which an arbitrator found had been misappropriated during the time he had worked at the university’s finance department between 2002 and 2010.
According to Rapport, the SA Rugby board will meet in the middle of January, while the executive committee will convene towards the end of January to decide Roux’s future.
SA Rugby’s offices are closed for the December holidays, but by January the organisation would have received further feedback from legal advisors as to the way forward.
The report claims that Roux does not intend to resign from his position.
