Four South Africans and a Kenyan have been included in World Rugby’s seven-man Dream Team for the second Dubai Sevens tournament of the season.
The Blitzboks were crowned back-to-back Dubai Sevens Cup winners after another unbeaten tournament, securing pool-stage wins over Great Britain, Ireland and Japan before overpowering Kenya in the quarter-finals, France in the semi-finals and Australia in the title decider.
With that run of results the Blitzboks extended their record to 24 consecutive wins in the World Rugby Sevens Series.
As a result, the Dubai Sevens Dream Team is dominated by South Africans, with JC Pretorius, Impi Visser, Ronald Brown and Shilton van Wyk all selected. It is the second consecutive week that Pretorius and Brown have made the composite team.
The rest of the team consists of Kenya’s Herman Humwa and Australian duo Josh Turner and Dietrich Roache.
