Springboks Malcolm Marx, Steven Kitshoff and Duane Vermeulen have been selected in the Barbarians match-day squad for Saturday’s fixture against Samoa at Twickenham.
Fresh off the back of South Africa’s a three-Test tour of Europe, Marx, Kitshoff and Vermeulen have been called upon by the Barbarians for a match that will draw the curtain on an action-packed, drama-filled international season.
Marx will start at hooker alongside props Tom Robertson from Australia and Shinnoske Kakinaga from Japan. Kitshoff and Vermeulen have been named among the reserves and will be used as impact players.
The Wallabies have the most representatives in the run-on XV with eight, with Pete Samu and Rob Leota (flanks), Tate McDermott (scrumhalf), Tom Wright and Filipo Daugunu (wings), Len Ikitau (centre) and James O’Connor (fullback) all starting alongside Robertson. The inclusion of Angus Bell and Nic White as replacements, brings Australia’s tally to 10 in the match 23.
Argentina have two players in the squad – lock Rodrigo Criado and fullback Marcos Moneta. There are no players from New Zealand.
