The Springboks have reclaimed the top spot in World Rugby’s rankings following the win over Scotland at Murrayfield and Ireland’s stunning victory against the All Blacks.
Following three successive victories, New Zealand went into this weekend top of the rankings, but that changed after they suffered a third defeat in five matches against Ireland.
Ireland’s 29-20 win not only lifted the hosts as high as third, but also opened the door for South Africa to overtake the All Blacks.
The Springboks claimed a 30-15 victory at Murrayfield, continuing a run that has seen the world champions lose just one of their previous 14 meetings with Scotland, stretching back 19 years.
