England prop Ellis has been ruled out of Saturday’s Test against the Wallabies at Twickenham after testing positive for Covid-19.
In a statement released on Friday, the Rugby Football Union confirmed that Genge returned a positive PCR result on Friday morning from a test taken on Thursday morning (11 November).
The player immediately went into isolation and no other positive test results were received among players or staff.
The rest of the England squad has undergone an additional round of LFT and PCR testing on Friday morning before completing a training session at Twickenham ahead of tomorrow’s match.
Genge’s positive test comes a week after Owen Farrell had also tested positive on the eve of England’s clash against Tonga. Farrell missed the Test, but it was later confirmed that his test result was a false positive.
England coach Eddie Jones is yet to announce Genge’s replacement in the starting lineup.
