After over 18 months of empty stadiums, a limited number of fans will finally be able to attend a live rugby match in Johannesburg on Saturday.
The Lions have officially confirmed that Ellis Park suite owners and 2020 Lions members will be able to attend the SA Rugby U20 Cup final against Western Province.
A total of 1,500 tickets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
2020 Lions members can redeem their tickets from the ticket office at Ellis Park from Tuesday, 26 October to Friday, 29 October between 9am and 4pm.
Tickets will be free of charge.
All fans attending the match will have to be fully vaccinated, meaning that they have received a J&J vaccine or a second Pfizer vaccine at least 14 days prior to the match.
Fans entering the stadium will be required to present proof of their vaccination status, in the form of a vaccination card, certificate or digital certificate, and will also have to present proof of identity.
Seating of groups in the same booking are clustered together, with distancing between them and the next group or person.
Children under 12 years attending the match will be considered as fully vaccinated.
This comes after SA Rugby announced that fully vaccinated fans will be able to attend club and professional matches, in line with government’s Covid-19 regulations.
The Lions U20 and WP U20 teams finished first and second on the U20 Cup table, respectively. The Lions progressed to the final after outplaying the Sharks in a 59-18 win in Johannesburg, while WP beat the Vodacom Bulls 42-17 in the second semi-final.
