Faf de Klerk’s hip injury is expected to rule him out of the Springboks’ end-of-year tour, while there is still doubt over star wing Cheslin Kolbe.
De Klerk suffered the injury during the first Test against the British & Irish Lions and aggravated the problem during the Rugby Championship Tests against Australia and New Zealand.
According to Rapport, De Klerk will now miss the Springboks’ fixtures against Wales, Scotland and England in November.
Kolbe, who only featured in a solitary Rugby Championship match, is continuing his recovery from a knee injury suffered in training in Australia, and it remains to be seen if he will be included in the Bok touring group.
The Springbok squad for the outgoing tour will be named on Tuesday, and Jacques Nienaber is not expected to spring any surprises in selection.
However, with RG Snyman and Nicolaas Janse van Rensburg also on the injury list, Stormers lock Salmaan Moerat could receive a call-up.
