Sharks flank Dylan Richardson is one of four South African-born players to be included in Scotland’s 36-man training squad for the November Test matches.

Rumours broke on Tuesday that Richardson, who qualifies to play for Scotland through his Edinburgh-born father, would be named in the squad.

The news was officially confirmed on Wednesday as the Scotland Rugby Union named a 36-man squad for a two-day training camp ahead of the first game of the end-of-year Tests.

The 22 year-old flank is one of four South Africans in the squad.

Uncapped Edinburgh prop Pierre Schoeman could also potentially make his debut in the series, having qualified on the residency rule.

The former Vodacom Bulls loosehead has spent four years with Edinburgh, having joined the club in 2018.

Another South African-born loosehead, Oli Kebble, who has played eight Tests for Scotland, has been included.

In the backline, Kebble’s Glasgow teammate Kyle Steyn returns to the squad and could add to the Test cap he earned against France in 2020.

Scotland’s match against South Africa on Saturday, 13 November is already sold out with the Australia fixture expected to follow very shortly.
