The Springbok Sevens team beat Hong Kong 46-0 in their quarter-final on Sunday to set up a last four showdown against Kenya.
The Blitzboks have been near unplayable so far at this tournament, averaging 46 points per game. And they continued in that ruthless fashion with an eight-try thrashing of Hong Kong in the quarters.
After opening the scoring inside the first 20 seconds of the match through Muller du Plessis, South Africa ran in four more tries – a brace from captain Siviwe Soyizwapi and one each from Ronald Brown and JC Pretorius – for a 27-point lead at the break.
Neil Powell made several substitutions at the start of the second half, but they still managed to put the Hong Kong defence under sustained pressure.
Christie Grobbelaar, James Murphy and Darren Adonis all crossed the line to wrap up another commanding victory.
