England coach Eddie Jones has filled two key vacancies in his coaching staff with the addition of Richard Cockerill and Anthony Seibold.
Cockerill played 27 Tests at hooker for England in the late 90s joins Jones as a forwards coach to work alongside Matt Proudfoot.
Mitchell quits England defence role to join Wasps
Australian Seibold replaces Mitchell, who stepped down to join Wasps, and the former coach of the National Rugby League’s Brisbane Broncos will head up England’s defence department.
Martin Gleeson last month replaced Simon Amor as attack coach. Amor departed after England’s lacklustre Six Nations campaign.
All of the new faces will be in place for November Tests against Tonga, Australia and South Africa.
Cockerill led Leicester to three Premiership titles as head coach before spells at Toulon and, most recently, four seasons at Edinburgh.
“We’re two years from the World Cup so we wanted to freshen up our coaching team and get the right people in place for where we want to go – which is to win the World Cup,” Jones said.
“We’ve added Richard to the team to work with Matt to create a dominant forward pack.
“He’s a former England player, has great coaching experience and comes in as a well-rounded, mature, driven English coach.”
