While the Springboks are on a roll, an especially arduous away leg of the Rugby Championship following this Saturday’s clash against Argentina promises to challenge the world champions’ hot streak.
South Africa recently added a series victory against the touring British & Irish Lions to Rugby Championship and Rugby World Cup titles in 2019. Last week, a second-string Bok outfit hammered a strong Pumas lineup to make a winning start to the southern hemisphere competition.
Next up is long away leg made trickier by lockdown restrictions and the requirement to keep the squad in a bubble.
Past masters when it comes to planning ahead, Rassie Erasmus and Jacques Nienaber are sailing into uncharted waters (as they did during an unprecedented Lions series). It remains to be seen how this will affect South Africa’s performances given the lingering doubt over the venue of the matches.
Uncertainty seems to be the only certainty, but will that galvanise or disrupt the Boks?
Right now, only you can answer that question!
Will South Africa retain their momentum and produce a perfect record against Australia and New Zealand, or do you expect them to sweep the Wallabies but drop one game against the All Blacks en route to winning the title?
Perhaps there’s less optimism about their chances of beating New Zealand and you’ve got the Boks finishing second, or do you think the wheels are about to come off in a big way?
