Former Springbok centre Jaque Fourie has announced his retirement and that he would like to remain in the game as a coach.
The 33-year-old confirmed his decision in an interview with Netwerk24. The decorated player also expressed an interest in becoming a defence coach.
While Fourie scored 32 tries over the course of this 72-Test career with the Boks, he was better known for his defensive excellence. Between 2003 and 2013, Fourie was part of the South Africa side that won the World Cup (2007), Tri-Nations (2009) and series against the British & Irish Lions (2009).
After making a brief comeback to Test rugby in 2013, Fourie opted to focus on his club career in Japan. He played his last game for the Kobelco Steelers earlier this month.
