South Africa’s director of rugby Rassie Erasmus has shared the words of a fable in a thinly veiled message on Twitter that says “never waste time on discussions that make no sense”.
The saga surrounding the Erasmus video, in which he criticised match officials during the Lions series, led to World Rugby confirming that the director of rugby and SA Rugby will face an independent misconduct hearing.
During the 62-minute-long video, Erasmus highlighted a host of officiating discrepancies in detail, including instances where he feels officials showed the South Africans a lack of respect.
On Wednesday, reports surfaced and circulated that the hearing is not expected to take place for another fortnight, but that Erasmus could face a number of sanctions, including a stadium ban. It’s said that the sport’s governing body is expected to bring formal charges this week.
On Thursday, Erasmus took to Twitter where he shared a fable that could well speak to his feelings at the moment, and which concludes with the following words:
“The worst waste of time is arguing with the fool and fanatic who does not care about truth or reality, but only the victory of his beliefs and illusions.
Never change the DNA of what makes the Springboks world champions
“Never waste time on discussions that make no sense … There are people who for all the evidence presented to them, do not have the ability to understand, and others who are blinded by ego, hatred and resentment, and the only thing that they want is to be right even if they aren’t.
“When ignorance screams, intelligence shuts up. Your peace and tranquility are worth more.”
This one even my youngest one is finally beginning to understand. So Lekka pic.twitter.com/ZKkwvrgmET
