Sergeal Petersen will wear the Southern Kings' No 14 jersey in their match against the Cheetahs in PE on Saturday.
Petersen, who scored two tries against the Force in the Kings’ first Super Rugby game of 2013, was sidelined for most of last season with injury.
Darron Nell will captain the side, while Ronnie Cooke takes over the vice-captaincy.
Caretaker coach Robbie Kempson said that while the Southern Kings would not be playing Super Rugby this year, they still realised that these warm-up matches were very important to the opposition teams.
‘Obviously for the Cheetahs, Lions and Stormers, these matches are an important part of their preparations for the Super Rugby season ahead and we want to ensure that we give them enough competition so that they have the best opportunity to prepare,’ said Kempson.
