Luke Watson says his focus lies with the Kings, amid speculation that he could be loaned to the Sharks for Super Rugby.
In December, Watson and Sharks director of rugby Jake White had a telephonic conversation about his availability, but Watson says nothing came of the discussion.
‘We never talked in-depth. He was just checking to see who is available. He asked about my injury and when I'd be fit again, and also if I would be interested to train with the Sharks. I explained that the Kings are my first priority,’ Watson told Die Burger. ‘That's all that was said and the conversation probably didn't last longer than two minutes. It was totally blown out of proportion.’
Watson said his 'primary focus' is at the Kings, and that the appointment of Carlos Spencer (backline coach), Michael Horak and Tiger Mangweni (both defence coaches) are signs that 'things are starting to happen'.
Ther flanker is currently recovering from a foot operation and will be available to play again between late February and the middle of March.
