Victor Matfield will wear the No 5 jersey when the Bulls host the Lions at Loftus on Saturday.
Three other changes have also been made to the Bulls team, with last week’s starting lock, Grant Hattingh, moving to No 8, Jacques-Louis Potgieter starting at flyhalf and Frik Kirsten joining the front row.
With Potgieter getting the starting-nod from Frans Ludeke, Louis Fouché, who wore No 10 against the Cheetahs, drops out of the 23 altogether.
